Hello, beautiful listeners. A warm welcome to episode 357 of The Everyday Life Balance show and Day 5 of our challenge: “Breaking Barriers - The 5-Part Journey To Overcome Fear And Embrace Success.” I’m Pascale Gibon, your host. This episode is the last day of the challenge, and your mission on Day 5, should you accept it, is to feel the fear of success and do it anyway by taking action. To achieve this, you need to identify the next step you must take to embrace success.

On Day 4, we created your new success story. Now that you are ready to feel the fear and do it anyway, let's create a concrete action plan to sustain your sense of victory over the fear of success and keep you motivated after this challenge ends.

Inaction keeps you stuck and passive, whereas taking action increases clarity, eliminates confusion and builds your confidence. We will use the SMART goal-setting framework to ensure your plans are clear and achievable and to keep moving you into action.

Remember, SMART stands for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound.

Here is how to create your SMART action plan:

Let's start with:

1. Specific: Here, you need to define what you desire to achieve and be as specific as possible. Instead of "I want to be successful," try "I want to launch my own business in [specific field]."

2. Measurable: Determine how you will track your progress by attaching concrete numbers or milestones. For example, “I will complete my business plan within two months.”

3. Achievable: Ensure your goal is challenging but achievable given your current resources and circumstances. In other words, your goal should stretch you, but not be impossible.

4. Relevant: Aim to align your goal with your broader life objectives and values as much as possible to maintain motivation.

5. Time-bound: Set clear deadlines to create urgency and stay focused.

Now, let's put this into practice. I want you to create three SMART goals:

1. A short-term goal (to be achieved in the next month)

2. A medium-term goal (to be achieved in the next six months)

3. A long-term goal (to be achieved in the next year)

This balanced approach helps maintain momentum with quick wins while working towards larger objectives.

 

For each goal, write down:

- The specific goal, create a list of smaller tasks or milestones.

- How you will measure your progress

- Why it's achievable

- How it's relevant to your success journey

- The deadlines for these smaller tasks

- Consider using a task management tool or app to organise these steps.

Next, break each goal down into smaller, actionable steps. What can you do daily or weekly to move towards these goals?

Finally, you need to establish a robust accountability system. Choose a method that resonates with you. Your accountability system could be:

- Regular check-ins with a mentor or friend

- A vision board representing your goals and desired outcomes. Place it somewhere you can see it daily to reinforce your motivation.

- Daily journal entries where you track your progress

- A project diary

- Weekly self-reflection sessions

- A project management app

Remember, this action plan is your roadmap to continued success. It's okay to adjust it as you grow and your circumstances change. Be consistent with your chosen accountability method and consider combining multiple methods for enhanced effectiveness. The key is to keep moving forward, one step at a time.

As always, acknowledge and celebrate when you complete tasks or reach milestones. This positive reinforcement can help maintain motivation.

A crucial point is to refer back to the techniques learnt in the earlier parts of the challenge. Additionally, use positive self-talk and reframe fears as opportunities for growth.

On Day 1: You faced your fears head-on by uncovering your personal fear stories.

On Day 2: You transformed your relationship with fear through a shift in perspective and mindfulness practice.

On Day 3: You broke through the barrier of fear and set yourself on a path to success.

On Day 4: You went through the process of created a new success story.

On Day 5: You identified your next steps to fulfil your vision.

To keep the momentum going, I encourage you to:

·      Focus on taking small, consistent steps rather than waiting for the perfect conditions.

·      Remember that any action, no matter how small, moves you forward.

·      Share your goals with supportive friends or family members. Consider joining a mastermind group or finding an accountability partner.

·      Continuously educate yourself by reading books, listening to podcasts or taking courses related to your goals. This ongoing learning can provide new insights and strategies.

·      Be kind to yourself when you face setbacks or miss deadlines. Use these moments as learning opportunities rather than reasons to give up.

By systematically applying the strategies I have just shared, you can effectively implement the lessons from this episode and make significant progress towards overcoming the fear of success and achieving your goals.
