Hi, I’m Pascale Gibon. Welcome to episode 285 of The Everyday Life Balance Show. Thank you for tuning in.

In this episode, I will reveal the ninth Yes! to Love principle taken from the Yes! to Love Philosophy. It is to accept what is.

I will share why it is important to accept what is to find balance in life.

Accepting what is, means that you go with the flow of life instead of against it. In addition, it implies taking 100% responsibility for your life for the sake of improvements and progress.

Sometimes in life, one struggles to accept their fate. They feel mistreated and believe that someone did them wrong. They feel misunderstood and wonder: "Why me" when an event happens and things do not go their way.

Our fate is not set in stone. And it seems that acceptance helps us to overcome the roadblocks that limit us and stop us from moving forward and finding inner and outer harmony.

In episode 284, I talked about living in the past. Unfortunately, when you live in the past, you do not live in the present moment and might struggle with accepting what is.

In the context of the Yes! to Love Philosophy, accepting what is raises this fundamental question: do you live life from a place of resistance or surrender?

What does living life from a place of resistance mean?

Here is what it looks like.

  • You find it challenging to move forward in life. There is ambivalence in your mind; you want positive change, but you do not believe in your heart that it is worth it until proven otherwise.
  • You do not believe the grass is greener on the other side because you fear uncertainty.
  • Your resistance to change might reveal a feeling of frustration and perhaps injustice, like "life is not fair" or "it is not fair."
  • You remain attached to what feels safe.

This inner conflict limits your ability to look at your life differently.

However, is it possible to focus on a different picture?

The more you accept what is, the more you open up a new field of possibilities. Your heart opens up to the goodness in life. What comes to mind is the opportunity to grow in awareness and wisdom.

In this light, what does it mean to live your life from a place of surrender?

  • To accept what is, you need to surrender to Love.
  • You are not in a fight or flight mode.
  • You surrender because you know that Love is the answer to a peaceful, balanced, and harmonious life. Besides, you let go because you trust that the universe has your back and that everything in life is in perfect divine order and timing.

Do you recall a life event you misunderstood and found difficult to accept? However, with hindsight, it all became clear because you understood why it happened in the first place and why it occurred the way it did. In truth, you understood the lessons you needed to learn from that particular event.

Our common understanding here is that miracles happen when you live your life from a place of surrender and acceptance of what is. I know it might be hard to comprehend. However, try to apply this idea as much as possible instead of living in constant friction. As a result, you will decrease stress and feel more empowered and resilient.

Accepting what is, means to be grateful. When you adopt an attitude of gratitude, you pay reverence to life, the good and the bad, coupled with the conscious awareness that life is always happening for you and not against you for your spiritual growth.

When you accept what is, you have mastered the mindset: respond versus react. Remember that your ability to respond implies taking time to think clearly about your life.

Here are a few ways you can cultivate acceptance in your everyday life:

  • Adopt an attitude of gratitude. Be grateful every day for the gift of life and all the love you receive from your loved ones to total strangers.
  • Practice mindfulness to live fully in the moment. You can listen to episode 284, where I share seven effective mindfulness practices.
  • Let go of control: stop focusing your energy on things beyond your control.
  • Be patient and compassionate with yourself as you work on accepting what is.

Acceptance is a way of overcoming any resistance, fear or shame that stops you from finding balance in life.

I invite you to reflect on what you align yourself with; resistance or surrender. One keeps you off balance, and the other helps you find balance. You can apply this reflection to your relationships, work, health and well-being.
